Privacy
Splitter is a Mac app that records what is on your screen and your face. That is about as personal as software gets, so this page says plainly what stays on your machine, what we keep, and who else ever sees anything.

Who is responsible
Full Cart Limited, trading as Splitter, established in Hong Kong, decides how the data described here is handled. For anything on this page, write to info@fullcart.agency.
Your recordings stay on your Mac
Video and audio you record are written to storage inside the app on your own computer. Editing and exporting happen on your machine too, using its own processor and graphics.
They leave it only if you back a project up to the cloud that comes with Splitter Studio. Then that project's recordings and files are stored with Cloudflare in the European Union, where only you, and the editor you give your seat to, can download them. Remove a project from the cloud and they are deleted there.
Automatic captions are made on your Mac as well: the speech model runs inside the app, so your audio is not sent anywhere to be transcribed.
What we store when you have an account
An account is needed to buy Pro or Splitter Studio and to sync settings between Macs. You sign in with an email link or with Google; with Google we receive your name and email address from it, nothing else. Without an account, nothing below exists.
- Your email address, so you can sign in and we can send you a receipt or reach you about your licence.
- Your licence: whether you have bought Pro, the serial, and when.
- Which Macs it is active on: a name such as “Yael’s MacBook Pro” and an identifier the app generates. This is how the two-computer limit works. You can remove a Mac from your account page at any time.
- Project settings, only if you turn on sync: the edit itself — cuts, zooms, captions, layout — and a small thumbnail. Not the footage.
- Counts of AI use per day and per feature, and what Auto edit cost to run this month, to keep the costs of those features in check. Numbers, not content.
- Splitter Studio, if you have it: your subscription, your Auto edit credits, which files of which projects are in your cloud and how large, and the email address you gave the editor seat.
What leaves your Mac, and only when you ask for it
A few features work by sending something to a service that does not run on your machine. Each starts from something you do — opening Auto edit, pressing a button — never on its own:
- Auto edit sends the transcript of what was said, with its timings, where the pauses and zooms are, up to 36 small stills of the screen recording, and the brief you wrote or kept. Opening Auto edit sends the transcript once to write the first draft of that brief. Not the video or the audio.
- AI voice-over sends the text you typed, and receives speech back.
- Generated music sends your description and the length you want.
- Animating a still sends that one frame and your prompt.
- Connecting an assistant (ChatGPT, Claude) lets it read what it asks for while you allow it: the transcript, a single frame of the screen, the project's settings. It passes through our server on its way to the assistant you chose, and is not kept.
- The speech model for captions is downloaded once from Hugging Face the first time you make captions. Your audio is not sent anywhere; after that first download captions work offline.
Payment
Buying Pro, Splitter Studio or credits goes through Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe’s own page and never reach us — we receive that a payment succeeded, along with the name and country you gave for the invoice, and Stripe keeps the invoice itself, which you can download from your account page. For Studio, Stripe also keeps the subscription, which you manage and cancel there.
Why we may use it
- To give you what you asked for (the contract): your account, your licence, Splitter Studio with its cloud and seat, and each AI feature when you use it.
- Because the law says so: invoices and what they are based on.
- Our legitimate interest: counting AI use and its cost per account, to keep those features fair and affordable, and keeping the service secure.
Who else sees anything
Your account, your licence, Splitter Studio's records (subscription, credits, what is in your cloud, the seat) and, if you turn on sync, your project settings and their thumbnails.
Serves this site and the app's API. Standard request logs.
Payment, the Studio subscription and invoicing. Card details go to Stripe, never to us.
Only when you use Auto edit: the transcript with its timings, the pauses and zooms, up to 36 small stills of the screen recording, and your brief. Not the video or the audio. Anthropic does not train on it.
Only with Splitter Studio's cloud backup: the recordings and files of the projects you back up, until you remove them.
Only when you use generated music: your music prompt.
Only when you use the AI voice-over or generated music: the text you typed, or your music prompt.
Only when you animate a still: that one frame and your prompt.
Only if you sign in with Google: it tells us your name and email address.
Serves the speech model for captions, downloaded once. Nothing of yours is sent.
The services outside the European Union are used under the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. We do not sell anything to anyone, and nothing here is used for advertising.
No tracking
This website sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics. The app stores your session on your own machine so you stay signed in; that is all it keeps in the browser.
How long things are kept
Your account and licence are kept for as long as you have an account — a licence bought once has to outlive any retention period, or it would stop being yours. Invoices are kept for seven years, which company and tax law require. Synced project settings stay until you delete the project or the account. Recordings in Studio's cloud stay until you remove them, and at most ninety days after your Studio ends; then they are deleted. Your credits and the monthly cost of your Auto edit runs are kept as long as the account, and the editor's address until you take the seat back.
What you can ask for
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, for corrections, for deletion, or for it to be handed over in a portable form. Write to info@fullcart.agency and you will hear back within thirty days. Deleting your account removes your licence with it, so ask for a copy of the invoice first if you still need it.
If you think this is being handled badly, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live, or in Hong Kong to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data.
Changes
When this page changes in substance the date at the top changes with it and the change is announced in the app. A change that makes us use your data in a new way applies only to what you do after it, never to what you already gave us.
